Founded in 2014 as a joint venture between Banco do Brasil and Bradesco, Livelo is Brazil’s largest loyalty and rewards platform with 47+ million users. Customers can earn and redeem points across a wide network of retail, travel, and lifestyle partners, exchanging points for over 1 million products, travel services, or cashback. Signup is open to anyone with a valid CPF, no specific bank or card required.

Key challenges

  • Creating and updating promotions required significant back-office effort.
  • Low flexibility for business rules in promotions.
  • New promotions models depended on custom development and customization.

As Livelo’s customer base and number of promotions kept growing, the cracks in their in-house promotion engine started to show. Setting up campaigns was a manual process handled by the back-office team, and any changes, especially when it came to special rules or pricing in points, needed dev support. Because much of that logic was hardcoded, updates were slow, and mistakes could easily slip through.

To solve this, Livelo brought in Voucherify. They built a custom microservice around Voucherify, which now connects both their website and mobile app (built in React Native) to handle coupons and promotions in real time.

Their in-house ecommerce system connects to Voucherify’s API for:

  • Displaying available promotions and coupons in-app. 
  • Discount calculations during checkout.
  • Handling redemption, validation, and publication.
  • Applying complex validation rules, segments, and product-specific promotions.

Livelo’s engineering team uses Voucherify’s metadata and segmentation features to set up complex promotion rules without needing manual work for every edge case. While external loyalty service continues to run the main points ledger, Voucherify now powers the promotion layer, giving Livelo a cleaner, more scalable setup for running personalized and dynamic offers and coupons.

Voucherify now powers 100+ campaigns in production for Livelo, with types ranging across:

  • Membership & bonus points promotions: Extra bonus points for new Club Livelo subscribers based on tier (e.g., 93k, 100k, 30k points). Eligibility based on customer status (e.g., not subscribed or inactive for 180+ or 360+ days).
  • Point purchase & renewal discounts: Up to 42% off gift point purchases for Super Club members. Exclusive 35% discounts for non-members and Livelo employees on renewals.
  • Travel & experience deals: 15–30% off flights, hotels, and car rentals based on campaign codes and segments. Tiered discounts for Club anniversaries, birthdays, and welcome offers.
  • Point transfers & exchanges: Up to 80% bonus on point transfers to airline loyalty programs. Discounts and fee waivers on intra-account transfers for Club members.
  • Turbo & multiplier campaigns: Custom “Turbo” campaigns with % discounts and multipliers based on transaction count or customer tier
  • Retail offers: Promotions tied to external partners (e.g., Veloe), offering full discounts or time-limited price drops.

Voucherify is also a part of the Shopping Livelo, an online marketplace where Livelo loyalty members can shop using their points, money, or a mix of both. It features a wide range of partner retailers and allows users to earn or redeem points based on how they pay. Most promotions are based on specific collections, quickly spun up in Voucherify via metadata.
