You can stimulate customer engagement and therefore loyalty by rewarding customer interactions with your brand. By adding more ways to earn rewards to your loyalty program you make it more interesting for customers to participate in it. Besides, multiple ways to earn rewards in a loyalty program add some gamification to the program.
- Make sure you cap the number of times customers can earn rewards by performing one activity, otherwise some customers may abuse your program (for example, liking every one of your pictures on social media just to earn more points).
- Make sure you set some requirements for the quality of the interactions, for example social media following would be acceptable only if it lasts at least one month (to avoid unfollowing immediately after earning a reward), minimum length of the review, minimum time they keep your mobile app on their phones etc.
- Set an expiry date for the rewards to motivate your customers to use them and purchase from you more frequently.
- Choose the types of interactions you care about and want to reward, do not reward everything just because other companies do. This is a strategic decision you should make based on your company’s needs.
